They go 'Oh, he's done that before - that's crap.' I've learnt that. The audience spot that quite quickly - they're weird, and rightfully so, they're righteous judges of us.

The worst place is when you know how to do it. "You go 'How are you going to do that?' That's a wonderful place to start off. "I love doing stuff that is 'How are you going to direct that? How would you do that?' It's like this project - it's like the Steve Jobs," he said. Boyle alluded to wanting to surprise audiences and not give them more of the same.

Speaking to IGN, he suggested that he might be interested if the movie took a very different direction from the previous ones. Most recently, Danny Boyle, who directed the original 28 Days Later, spoke about the possibility of him coming on board.

Everything up to things falling apart indicated they had tight procedures for anything happening inside the safe zone, but it all fell apart with no sensible addressment to it in order to just get to evoking scenes like firing indiscriminately into crowds.Įdit: Quite possibly have forgotten a scene where the garrison has largely pulled out and they're short staffed to maintain both interior and exterior procedures, but doubt it if it didn't impact near as much as what the rest of the film commentated on.There has been a lot of buzz surrounding 28 Months Later, and now we have some of the key names who have previously been involved in the series talking about the project.

The only time it really gets brought up is the kids sneaking off, and that iirc was addressed as to not being prepared for people to sneak outside the safe zone and focused only on what or who may come in. It was the lack of security and the bunker entrances being rather fragile, cramped, and unmonitored allowed panic to boil over and infected to get inside.Īnd I think largely the film falls apart a bit from something good to serviceable, since there feels like there was a lack of focus on the presentation of security falling apart. There being no incubation period with the brain succumbing in 10-20 seconds, and the first movie showed that the infected were attracted to/were intelligently drawn by light, made the bunker plan relatively viable.

so that it doesn't feel like they've been 1-upped since they made Weeks. I think nowadays though we've seen SO MANY zombie movies that they have their work cut out for them coming up with a unique premise and setup etc. Just seemed like hamfisted plot devices.Īs harsh as I sound like I'm being I enjoyed it quite a bit and don't think it's as bad as it's reputation. There wasn't enough there that convinced me that everyone had become complacent and it was the reason for the collapse of the city. Just broke the illusion of the whole basic premise to me and I would have almost rather they have some kind of magic macguffin virus variant as the trigger for the outbreak etc. To me it just seemed like "there's no way this city was able to become the quarantine zone and reach this kind of stability but ALSO make so many bad moves and decisions and fuck ups we see happening in this film." And then I didn't enjoy the overly long escape segment of the film.
